Pastor Jonathan W. Pannell's journey began in Knoxville, Tennessee, and unfolded against the backdrop of Rock Hill, South Carolina, where he was raised. With a wealth of ministry experience, Pastor Jonathan arrived at Emmanuel poised to make a profound impact. His earlier years were dedicated to shepherding the lives of adolescents and young adults in his role as a youth pastor, leaving an indelible mark on their paths.
Educationally, Pastor Jonathan pursued a diverse array of knowledge hubs. He embarked on his academic journey at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina, focusing on business studies. Over time, his thirst for learning led him to institutions like the University of Phoenix, Liberty University, Trevecca Nazarene University, Nazarene Bible College, Carolina School of Ministry, Trinity Bible College, Eastern Gateway Community College, and Emmanuel Baptist University. Through these educational ventures, Pastor Jonathan earned an Associates Degree in Biblical Studies, another in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, a Bachelor Degree in Christian Ministry, a Master's Degree in Theology, and a Doctorate in Divinity. He also holds a certificate in Biblical Counseling.
Pastor Jonathan's dedication to both spirituality and community is highlighted by his role as a Law Enforcement Officer and Chaplain. A graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, he has become an integral part of the community he serves. His personal life is a testament to love and companionship, as he is happily married to his best friend and partner, Ashley. Their union has been blessed with three wonderful children: Austin, Preston, and Lila.
Beyond his pastoral and professional roles, Pastor Jonathan is a man of diverse talents and passions. In 2020, he added the title of author to his achievements, publishing "My Spiritual Journey" and in 2023 publishing "STANDING ALONE". Moreover, he is a certified SCUBA diver, a South Carolina Notary Public, a former licensed Real Estate Agent, a profound public speaker, a professional educator as an advanced law enforcement Instructor, and an avid writer.
However, it is his altruistic efforts that truly distinguish Pastor Jonathan. The founding of Emily's House, a local homeless shelter that extends aid to families across the York County area, reflects his compassionate and philanthropic nature. His vision has also led to the establishment of seasonal shelters, providing a safe haven for countless men and women in the community.
Pastor Jonathan's leadership and dedication have garnered him well-deserved recognition. The "Hometown Hero" award from the community and CN2 News attests to his impact.
