The Inn

Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. As we approach this Holiday season we have so much to be thankful for as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior. As we get closer to this season of Thanksgiving, I want to bring you something to think about…

As we recount the birth of Jesus Luke states, “and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them” (Luke 2:7 NIV). Jesus, God himself in the flesh was born humbly as a baby in a “manger” because as the scripture states that there was “no guest room available” …

This is interesting to me. And also, heartbreaking as I think that every room was full so many people were sleeping soundly in their beds, probably had a decent meal, and now all warm and cozy calling it a night.

All this while our Savior had to be born in a manger.

I feel sorry for the people who that night were in the hotel rooms (the Inn).

This holiday season so many people will be filled with turkey, dressing, and all the trimmings. They will sleep soundly in their warm beds and will wake up with excitement on Christmas morning for the purpose of opening gifts while the most important gift of all eternity remains untouched and unnoticed.

My thought and reminder for you this Holiday Season, don’t leave Jesus out.

Welcome Him into your homes, and around your table.

This Christmas Celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, Jesus.

Blessings,
Pastor Jonathan W. Pannell III

Luke 2:2-7 (NIV)

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
