Kenny Rogers

Some of you may know my friend, most of you have heard his name.. Kenny Rogers. Kenny works at Lowe's and it one of the nicest guys you will ever know. Kenny always has a tall tale and if a fun person to be around. Recently Kenny went to the doctor an received a report that anyone would dread receiving.

Kenny got a report that he had Prostate cancer, they had removed and biopsy portions and sometime later Kenny went back in after the treatment for blood work to see the prognosis. As the young lady drew his blood and placed the label on the vile, Kenny stopped her and asked her if he could pray over that vile of blood. Kenny prayed that day over this vile of blood with that young lady in the room. When the results came back and Kenny sat down with the doctor, the doctor had results that would puzzle the sharpest minds in the world. The doctor said that Kenny was Cancer FREE. The Cancer was there, they had tested it, they had already went in and saw it.. and then they don't know what happened from there. But, it was gone.

Miracles DO happen!

GOD is STILL in the healing Business!

Kenny Gives ALL the Glory to God, Kenny was healed by a touch from the master's hand! Do you Believe that God is still in the healing business, because I do! Let us rejoice with Kenny!!

Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)

But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

It's Raining..It's Pouring...and the Church is snoring!

Matthew 16:17-19 (NKJV)

17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed[a] in heaven.”

As it rains today, I think about a old song "It's raining, it's pouring..The old man is snoring.." A song I learned as a child and remember a saying by a pastor friend that I heard the other day, that the "devil is rocking the church to sleep". We are in a day in age where church people are not being the people that God has called us to be. Basically fallen asleep and the devil is at play.

In many cases, we are not even sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people that we come into contact with on a daily basis. We don't worship from the heart, we neglect praying, and being in the house of the Lord.

Jesus said "On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it." The enemy is not working hitting the church, he is attacking the people of the church. As followers of Jesus Christ, Christians, we have seemingly lost our desire to worship, to be in the presence of God and share the gospel with a lost and dying world. It's time for the church to wake up, and be the church once again!

The enemy is working on the people of churches all across this nation, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever more... He has not gone anywhere, we have pulled away from Him, we have ignored Him, and let the enemy blind us the the priority of serving and worshiping Him. The enemy knows that he can hold back the works of a church through the people... Who are you truly being a "vessel" for? If you are not leaving room for God in your life to use you, then the enemy has the space to move freely.

We live in a time that we must put our feelings aside and focus on the works of the King! It's all about Him and not about us at all. The church is being blessed over and over and God has good things in store, Let GOD work through you to build the Kingdom of Heaven.

WE are the body of Christ let us unit to do HIS work!

It's Not About You...

Psalm 122:1 (KJV)

"I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord".

I often tell folks to find a good daily devotional to help jumpstart your day in the Word. I read several different devotionals regularly, however I do enjoy the devotions that Bible Gateway sends out.
I wanted to share this one with you as it is a reminder of the importance of gathering to worship. Yesterday during our morning worship service we sang several songs including "This is the Day" and "He has made me glad" when I read this devotional I think about for each of us, and how for some of us going to church feels like it did when we were kids, like pulling teeth (and yes, we can feel that way at times as an adult).
My immediate thought was, is this about me or God? Sometimes we get our feelings hurt, we get weary or feel down each of these examples are covered in God's word.. If we have a problem we fix it we don't quit because of it. If we are weary or burdened we take it to Him. God wants to walk with you each and everyday and wants to help you and wants you to fellowship and worship one with another. As the devotion mentioned there are people who are dying gathering like we do freely.
Pray this week for our church and that you will have the true excitement of worshipping and gathering in The House of the Lord. God has placed you where you are by Devine appointment, not by accident and He wants to bless you and your family. Just listen to Him, Follow Him, and watch what He will do in your life. When we worship, when we go to church.. It is all about Him not about us. Encourage one another and pray for those being persecuted for doing the same.
May your day be full of Joy as you worship our Lord and Savior.
This is Next Level Living. Are you ready to move to the next Level?

PS: original devotion is below.

Devotion Presented By: Bible Gateway

Into His House with Joy (Psalm 122:1)

  • Why is it important to go to church?
  • How would your life be different if you couldn’t go to church?

Sometimes it’s a struggle to get ourselves up and going for church. But God wants us to go into his house with joy. This doesn’t mean that we will always be excited when the alarm clock goes off. But it does mean that we need to work to prepare our hearts and minds for what God has in store for us.

God wants us to gather together with other believers. He wants us to study the Bible, to hear the Word, to sing praises together and to bless others. All of this should happen in church. If you find yourself dragging, ask God to replace your lack of enthusiasm with his joy.

Many believers in this world are being persecuted for gathering together. Some people are even being killed. That’s how important it is to gather. For those of us who have easy access to a church, it can be easy to take it for granted. But we shouldn’t.

If you find yourself bored with church, ask God what you could do to make it more exciting. If you find church a difficult place to be due to problems with fellow believers, pray that God will heal those relationships and restore your joy.

Dear God, thank you that we can gather together in your name. Please help us to have nothing but joy in our hearts as we step into your house. Amen.

Vacation is Over..

Ashley and I had a wonderful time during our get-a-way to celebrate our Anniversary and Ashley's Birthday. It is always nice to be able to refresh. We spent much needed time walking the beaches of Folly Island and admiring the creations of our Lord. God has blessed us with a wonderful church family and so much more.

We want to say thank you to each of you than support us in the ministry, your encouragement and your prayers help to guide us daily as we Sheppard the church God has led us to. We are back and ready to jump into a busy fall season, there are many events on our church calendar and hope that you all can make it out to help us support the church. It takes us all working together to make this ministry possible. God is doing some great things and we are looking forward to all that is in store..

Turn on What You Believe or Face the Punishment.

Matthew 7:21-23 (NIV)

True and False Disciples

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Have you ever had that feeling that you should have spent more time with someone?

That if you could just have another opportunity?

Don't have that feeling about Jesus.... I am not one for gambeling or taking chances and its a risky thing to play with your eternal destination. How important to you is serving Jesus? Just because you "say" you love Jesus and you serve Him is one thing. But do you Show it, can you prove it in your actions? We have all heard the saying, "Actions speak louder than words" I believe this to be true and I believe it to be a statment that is proven Bibically through Matthew chapter 7.

You see there will be a day when you will not be able to worship or express your faith as freely as we have always been able to. Many people will regreat the decision that they have missed an opportunity to worhsip him. Don't regret the missed opportunities to worship.  Do you think that this will change like the turning off of a light? That one day you will just not be able to worship, possibly however I see it starting one, step, at a time. Such as with the igniting of someone being persecuted for there faith, and sentenced to jail without a bond until they change there minds on what they believe.... You see you don't nessessarly have to be beheaded to be pursecuted, what about being sentenced to jail, with out release date, but yet a ruling of denouncing what you believe or stay in jail until you do... The couple sueing her, and asked that she be fined.. But the judge ruled this for her? This is the part that bothers me with this whole story.... She was jailed until she changed her mind about her beliefs. The judge said a fine wouldn't do the trick. So for this lady, she has to change (denounce her faith or beliefs) to be released from jail...(?)

So.. What if Christians were to start being persecuted for there faith and beliefs?

Hope to see you at Church this Sunday. The invitation is there.

Come Now is the Time to worship!

There may be a day that you might be asked to change what you believe or face Jail without a bond "UNTIL YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND"...

God's Church

How many churches in your life time have you heard called "God's Church"? Me, Not many....

Our Goal at Emmanuel is not about us, but ALL about Him in Everything that we do!  We all need to get to the point in our lives that we say, Lord it is NOT about ME, BUT all about YOU! This is when things will start taking a change in our lives, when we submit to Him and let Him be in complete Control.

I added the "God's Church" Video of ECN to the website today. Share it with a friend. Invite them to Church. And let it be your prayer today, say "Hide Me behind the Cross Lord, Let YOU be seen, YOU be Glorified, and not me". Are you ready to make a TRUE commitment to Jesus?

If you are going to talk, the talk...You Need to Walk, the Walk.....

The Workers are Few!

Luke 10:2 (NIV)

He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

We Live in a day and age where "Church" or being a "Christian" isn't going to be the "funniest" thing that you have ever done in your life. People want things that are fun, to hang out with cool people and do the things in the world that excite them... and honestly, many times those things many be the opposite of what God may want in our lives...

This is where the "Rubber meets the road!" As a Pastor I pray that God will provide the people that we need to help us keep the ministry going for years to come, that we will have more people that are always interested and engaged in working in the ministry and answering there call that God has for their lives.

I want to give people the opportunities these desire to work in the ministry, and to serve God, the maker of the Heavens and the Earth. I feel it to be such a blessing to serve the Lord in the ministry. I don't ever want to feel like I am burning someone out, by using them in the ministry, and I never want anyone to feel this way. Is it hard to serve in the ministry, sometimes yes... Even for me. But, in the end, I know that I am right where God wants me to be and that He is preparing me for the next stage in my journey.

I do as the scripture says in Luke 10:2, and as I pray I pray that God will send us the people to help the ministry, help me to be the Pastor HE wants me to be, and send the people to help support our people or workers so anyone ever feels "burned out". I know that the workers may be few time and time again, however I also know that the HARVEST is PLENTIFUL!

If you Feel that God has a calling on your life, I pray that you will Answer that Call and let God use you. Be a willing vessel. We have work to do as Christians and the time is now, it's time for us to be the church. God has Blessed ECN beyond measure and I am looking forward to what God has in store, however I also know that God is needing His Children to do His work as He continues to Bless our church... Let us get excited and see what is in store!

I am praying for you and I pray that you will remember us in prayer as well. May God Bless you. And Always, Stay Strong in the Lord!

 Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”

When reading in the book of Mark we find the calling of Jesus as the “Carpenter” (Mark 6:3). Jesus being the Carpenter by trade is awesome to me, its a wonderful thought to know that I have a savior who is a Carpenter by trade….

You see, Growing up I grew up with family members who were all carpenters by trade, and still to this day know many carpenters who are very crafty people. These people were people who can fix anything it seems like. And for me to be able to think of Jesus like this is pretty awesome. I know that Carpenters are people who when building or fixing things have plans, such as blueprints for the thing that they are building.

To me things brings attention that Jesus, the carpenter, He to can fix anything that may seem to be broken, but not only can He fix it. I am ensured to know that He has a plan, a blueprint for my life. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

No matter where you are in your life, know this. Jesus has a plan for you. It’s a good plan and not a plan to ever hurt you or harm you. God has good things in store for you! If you feel like your broken, know that Jesus is a fixer you just have to remember to call on Him.

It’s hard for us to bit our pride and call a repair man when somethings broken, we often feel like we can fix it our selves. Know that it is okay to call on Jesus and that there is nothing that you cannot take to Him and that He cannot fix. He may not always fix it the way that we want Him to, but he will fix it to what is best for us. Jesus was a carpenter and to me still is today, my savior and my fixer upper. So Can He Fix it? YES HE CAN!

Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

This week I have not be able to post as I would wish to, I had Class through the end of last week and training at work all this week so it has really messed my schedule up. I would love to post daily however that is not always possible. But brings me a good reminder that we should always be prepared to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, our faith and what it has done for us.

Ready the word of God and let it sharpen you for the Word of God is quick and POWERFUL and Sharpen than any two edged sword. God is good! Let Him move through you and use you.

How much progress are you making in your everyday walk with Christ?

Not many people are a fan of change, but when we make Jesus Christ the Lord of our life we must understand this one thing we are asking for. We are asking Jesus to make Change in us and we have to be willing to accept that change. We all like progress, we all like improvement, however we don't like change. We should strive to get closer and closer in our relationship with Jesus everyday.

I look at my two boys and see the growth over the last year alone in both of them, one now almost seven and the other almost two they are growing so much and you can see the change. This hit me when I was talking to my friend Denise yesterday, she said the boys are growing. I think about this in my walk with Christ as we all should. Are we growing in our journey with God is our relationship growing so much that it is visible to others, to where people are saying things like "something different". God's desire for us is for us to draw near to Him and to seek Him daily in our everyday lives. We hear Peter tell us this in 2 Peter 3:18 as he says "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord.."

The more time you spend with Him the more you will know Him. God is good and has good things in store for you, He has a plan for you and it is up to us to seek Him daily in our lives, drawing near to Him and building our relationship with Him.

2 Peter 3:18 (NIV)

18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

You Lack One Thing.....

Luke 18:18-27 (NIV)

The Rich and the Kingdom of God

18 A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’[a]

21 “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.

22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. 24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

26 Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?”

27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

I am reminded of a J.G. Wentworth commercial that always says, "it's my money and I want it now". In life we want things like we are at Burger King or Something, we want to customize our lives to fit our needs, and for things benefit us in the best way possible. When we choose to follow Jesus it needs to be more of Him and less of me Lord... The man in this story asks Jesus a simple question, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" Even though this man stated that he had always strived to do "good", keep the commandments Jesus stated that there was still one thing that he was lacking... A sold out commitment to Him, a relationship that states Less of Me Lord, More of You. Jesus knows that this is a hard commitment and even says that it will be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle that for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God. Just as we are probably asking the same question when everyone heard this they asked Him, "WHO then can be saved?" Jesus gives the best and most reassuring reply... "What is impossible with man, is possible with God"! We must remember that with God all things are possible, we will never be perfect, Jesus was the ONLY perfect man who walked this earth. We can try our best but we will never be good enough, and deserve what God grants to us... What He wants from us is a Sold out Commitment to Him, a relationship with Him that will state that I can absolutely have nothing, give or sell everything and serve Him whole heartedly. Are you sold out to HIM? Is your life dedicated to Him? Is He in control of your every action, every move, every word?

Lord... I try, I try, I try... But I will never be good enough... But, Lord it's less of me, and more of you.

As much as we think that we have everything under control, the truth is we don't know the half of it... Far to often in life we seem to get covered up in problems and worries of things that life throws our way, we even cause our selves more trouble than needed sometimes. Then there are times when things are going great, things are working in our favor and it seems that we are on track.. Here is when we often find our selves boastful and loosing sight of who has our back... We always want to look to God when we need Him, but often forget to thank Him...

No matter the time in our lives, no matter how good or how bad it is we must always remember that we can run to our heavenly Father for help in times of need, to tell Him how much we love Him, and to look to Him to keep us on track.

Look around at all the beauty that surrounds us everyday, the mountains, the trees, the stars and the oceans... God is good, creative and powerful. I am humbled by His majesty! I lift my eye and know right where to always turn, remember where my help comes from..the maker of all.

Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV)

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

YOU are NOT your own!

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

This past Wednesday night Sister Linda Lewis our missions director brought us an awesome message on the scripture refferenced in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. This scripture has been running through my head ever since. I have heard it thousands of times even used the passage in a sermon a time or two so why is it stuck now...

God gave us all that we have even our bodies that we live in everyday. As a Christian and as a human being I am Pro Life. God gave us this life and He has made the creation of Life. We tend to forget it's not ours nor is the call to end it. And even from there as we develop in life and grow as a Christian a follower, a believer in Jesus Christ we must take care of ourselves, physically and spirtually. Sister Linda made reference to a dinner plate and what we put on it, such a true thought to our everyday life as a Christian. If we trully desire to grow closer to the Lord we should be careful of what we put ourselves in contact with. Watch what you put on your plate... Is praying, fasting, reading the word, dwelling in the presence of the Lord on your plate? By default there is always work, family, school and many other things on your plate not to mention reading facebook posts... Be sure to leave room for Jesus, this is cruical to a balanced "diet" (LIFE). Jesus can bring balance to your life in the midst of everything else, He can bring peace and security that only He as our personal savior can bring. You see, YOU were bought with a price, a high price. Jesus paid a debit that He did not owe to give us a chance to be redeemed from sin and have a personal relationship with Him. And we owe a debit that we cannot pay. We owe our lives to Him, so honor him with your bodies, your life. Put Him first, give it all to Him, because "you are not your own"...
