We are Looking to the Wrong Well...

There is more to the story than catches the eye...

John 4:1-26 (NKJV)

A Samaritan Woman Meets Her Messiah

4 Therefore, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John (though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples), He left Judea and departed again to Galilee. But He needed to go through Samaria.

So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

A "loan for a friend"woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

11 The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? 12 Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”

13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

15 The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”

16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”

17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.”

Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”

19 The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.”

21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.”

26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.

Now. Take Another Look...
There is more to the story than catches the eye...

I truly love the story of the Samaritan Woman. In the reading above you are able to grasp a basic understanding that Jesus was on a journey and made a decision to leave the others and side track to an area that would not have been a normal stop... Jesus sits by a well, and awaits the arrival of a Woman (Samaritan Woman) and He then asks her for a drink, engaging in conversation with her.

I love the Woman's response to Jesus when He asks her for a drink, she said simply: Why are you talking to me, you and your people (Jews) have no dealings with us... Think about it, how many times do we get into a situation and we feel as though, Why would you be concerned about me. I'm a nobody... Then Jesus, Jesus comes back if you only knew... If you only knew who you were talking to, the Gift of God!...

Jesus goes into saying after if you knew, if you knew you would have asked Me (Jesus), and He would give you Living Water... The Woman comes back and says well you have nothing to draw the water with and the well is deep...

FAR to many times we look to the World for what we should be looking to God for, we get focused on what the world can give us to provide for us, help us, numb us from out care, concerns and problems when we should be looking to God (HIM). We ALSO not only look to the world for solutions, we get into situations and focus on how big they are (or how deep they are) and not HOW BIG God is...

God knows us, our needs and is waiting on us to be honest, and come to Him with the desires of our hearts and the desire to completely submit to Him, giving Him ALL of us and not holding ANYTHING back, giving Him our burdens, our struggles and completely to trust in HIM.

Whiter than SNOW...

Winter Storm Helena Threatens South

-Winter Storm Helena Threatens South-
Southern snow is ahead. Here is what you need to know..

SNOW and other Winter Weather moves toward the South, and the milk and bread has flew off the shelves… Ashley, the boys and I went to Wal-Mart yesterday to get supplies to make Chili. When we got there, Wal-Mart was PACKED and the grocery isles were like rush hour in the middle of town. Everyone was flocking to be per-pared for the coming… They were looking for what they would need to get them through the storm.

Its amazing to me the announcement of SNOW in the south brings a drive, a fear, and a rush for the need to prepare…

I think about the Old Song: “Nothing But The Blood”
…What can wash away my Sins… Nothing But the Blood…

The talk of how, HE can was our sins away, making them as White as SNOW, God is so Good and Merciful, Faithful to FORGIVE. What we have to draw from this is that God is always Good and Faithful, HE wants us to draw to Him and to Humble ourselves before Him.

Let this “Winter Weather” be a reminder of How Good God is, and His Mercy in your life, How HE is faithful, and How HE forgives… Let’s get in a rush for HIM, and know that HIS coming is drawing near and HE can wash us Whiter than Snow…

Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV)

18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.

Psalm 51:7 (NKJV)

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

John 1:29 (NKJV)

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

1 John 1:9 (NKJV)

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

A New You...

Are you ready for a New Year?

Isn't it amazing how fast a year can come and go... it seems like yesterday it was Christmas and before that we were camping in the warm summer air.

Truth is, yes time flies and we should know this... we need to remember this so we can always make the best out of life. God has great plans for us, and His desire is for our lives to be prosperous, not lived out in fear, doubt, worry and sadness.

The Great News is through Christ Jesus he brings is Life and a New Start. When we have fully surrendered and accepted Jesus we know that He makes a new creature with a clean start.

Jesus is a Savior, and called that for a reason. Jesus is the one who you can always be depended on, who is always faithful, and someone that we can always go to. I noticed a sign a while back that stated, "When Life Gets to Hard to Stand, Kneel". This is a relationship with Jesus as the Lord of your life, and with Him as the Lord of your life you have to allow Him to be in full control.

In this New Year of 2017, it is my prayer that there will be a New You... This year draw near to Him, and as His Word says, He will draw near to you. Work on building a Personal Relationship with Him this year, learning to walk with Him, to talk with Him, and learning mostly to listen to Him, and to TRUST Him. God is on your side.

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

10 Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,

I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

This Thanksgiving, in Everything focus on being Thankful for all things.

Do EVERYTHING WITHOUT... grumbling. This Thanksgiving, in Everything focus on being Thankful for all things.

It seems that we live in a generation of people that are fostered around complaining. We find that there will always be those that just complain about everything that doesn't go the way they like it... When we do this and we are verbal in complaining we are voicing the Lack of Joy in our hearts...

Complainers will always find something to complain about....
-Might be: Church, the service, the leadership, there own lives, the way things
are  working, the people they are surrounded by, the people they are called to,
the area they are called to, there family, the weather, the wind blowing, the way
God Blesses others, the abundance of blessings that others have, ETC......
(Boy this could go on for ever.........)

I mentioned in brief this past Sunday during service how the Israelites after being freed and on their long journey started complaining, seeming to forget all the good that God had already done for them...

To many times we focus on the wrong thing... If you would just stay focused on HIM and not what is about YOU, more would get done for HIM, which is what its all about in the first place.... Your called to worship, created for the purpose of serving and worshiping Him.

Its difficult to say you are fully committed to worship and doing it whole heartily, when you find yourself in a constant mindset of complaint, and bitterness.. Especially God's word says that HE orders our steps, that HE has a plan for us, and that HE is good...

God always called us to Love, to share Hope, and to be fully committed to HIM.

There is always a positive way to look at things that you face, there is always a way to reflect Jesus in these situations. Such as if you are complaining about a particular church, stating "that church needs this, and needs that, they don't have enough help, so many people come with problems..." that is exactly why God placed you there, and instead of complain where God has brought you (like the Israelites) do your part to share in the ministry, share hope, joy and love to those that need it.

Be that positive light of Jesus to a dark and dying world.

God has a plan, and God never makes mistakes, trust Him and His plan.

This Thanksgiving, reflect on all that you have to be Thankful for. In the sum of this you should be able to quickly realize that God has been good to you. And that what you are complaining about is probably something you can in Love and Peace work to build, grow and help verses complaining against.

Philippians 2:13-15 (NIV)

13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky

Jude 1:16 (NIV)

16 These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.

Numbers 14:2-4 (NIV)

All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”

Exodus 16:3 (NIV)

The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”

Set Up For Success.

Are you Looking For God's Blessings in Your Life? (Most of us are...)
We all have needs that need to be met, bills to be paid, medical concerns and much more. And in all of these we are looking for God to make a miraculous move and to shower us with His blessings. But, honestly what are we doing for God?

This is not something that most of us would "like" to hear, but it is the truth. Yes, we serve a loving and gracious God, but we also serve a jealous God..

So... What are you doing to make this possible?
Are you possibly hindering your own blessings?

Are your words, your thoughts, and your actions all setting you up for God's blessings and for faithful service to God, or are we setting ourselves up for failure, hindering our blessings by doing exactly what God has told us in his word not to do?..

Are you blessing others?
Are reaching the lost?
Are you faithful in your worship?
How is your -prayer life?
-your study time for God's word?

These are just a few possible questions that you could ask yourself, but there could be many more. God wants us to be blessed and to live an abundant life, to many times WE are the reason that we are not blessed.

With His Mind...

It's often hard for us to have the mind of Christ, but that's the big idea. We should think more like Him. Just as the old saying goes "What Would Jesus Do?" God's desire is for us to have Unity in the Body of Christ and that is hard for us to do when we don't put on the mind of Christ.

Scripture tells us that God is Love, and we know that Love hurts sometimes. Sometimes its not going to be what we want or in our best interest, and most of the time seems like its not apart of "our" plan, but God's plan.

As things happen that we don't like or agree with, or just doesn't go apart of our plan in life we become bitter from time to time, truth is that happens. But, what we have to remember is that we cannot spread doubt, or negativity among one another (the church, other believers, the community). In fact, out of everything in life and from a God that "IS LOVE" scripture says there are several things that God specifically "HATES" and this is one of them... You should no matter how you feel about something focus on building "Unity" in the Body.

No matter what you face, what decision come up. No matter how up set you are about something you have to understand that our main focus is worship, and bringing glory to our Heavenly father.

Proverbs 6:16-19 (NKJV)

16 These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:

19 A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren.

Each and every person will give an account to God one day, and that day will come soon and is guaranteed to all of us.

Lets start simple. As a Christian you are Pro Life. There is no discussion to this... God has created us, His word even states that He created us in the womb. It also states that without Him NOTHING was made. You cannot pick and choose places of God's word to "choose" to believe. You either believe the whole Bible or you are not believing any of it.

It's a tragedy that this election year, out of an entire country full of people, this is the best we could come up with... I encourage all Christian's to vote you have a voice and it must be heard.

As a Christian I cannot with a clear conscience support ANY candidate regardless of there political affiliation. This shall be known as Conviction. I stand firm to God's Word. Being a Christian does not make me perfect, nor do I EVER proclaim to be perfect, I am Human and make mistakes just like all of us. But, I believe in His Word and know that God Creates Life and one thing that God hates are hands that shed innocent blood.

I'm pretty certain that you can agree on this FACT, your probably pretty thankful your mom chose LIFE, seeing that you were not aborted..

Life is such a beautiful thing and it should be cherished and we should embrace the challenges that it brings along with it. We are created to praise, and we are given an ENTIRE life time to choose to serve and worship Him, God is Love and it is only then after this- an entire life time of rejecting Him, that we face an eternal death. This is our choice, not taking a life that does not belong to you. Share peace and Love, share encouragement and give Life. Christians must learn to be Christians, even in your voting.

I am not saying that either candidate is the BEST, or going to be some awesome and amazing President, I am saying reflect your faith (being a Christian) in your voting. Pray through EVERY decision and stand by your Father in Heaven. Life is in the Blood.

It is important that each and every Christian takes the time to VOTE this election year! Your Voice Must be heard! Please take the time to make sure that you and your family are registered to vote. This election will be major for each of us and country as we know it. I want to encourage you to do your research before you vote, Especially if you are planning to vote for Hilary! Hilary Clinton is one person we do NOT need in office, and is an evil woman who will destroy this country as you know it. There are many things that are on the line including Religious Freedom, Human Rights, Terrorism, our support and relationship with Israel and so much more.

We ARE living in the LAST DAYS and mark my words,
Jesus is coming back for His Children VERY SOON!

Our Country must turn its attention back to God. God is the only way we can save this country, not through a political candidate. However, Hilary will not be the one to bring us any closer to God as a country. You, your children, and your families generations to come will all be affected by the next election.

I urge you to vote, God has given us prayer and when we pray we have been given a voice to God, we to have a voice with man and that is to vote. Let your Voice be Heard, Pray and Vote this election year. From the creation of man we have been given the freedom of choice by God, and this year we will have a choice to make. Christians have to stand up for there Faith and protect the freedoms that we have in serving our God.

Pastor Jonathan W. Pannell III

One of Many Places to Start your Research:

Numbers 24:9  (KJV)

He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

Psalm 33:12 (NKJV)

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

John 14:3 (KJV)

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

1 Corinthians 15:52 (KJV)

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

What are You Asking For?

2 Kings 2:9 (NKJV)

And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?”

Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

I would like to Ask You, what are you asking for?....

I think that this passage is interesting in the face that when Elisha asked he asked for a double portion of "your spirit". To often to many times we are to worried about asking God for stuff, and not asking for His spirit. You see in this text nothing physical, no stuff. He asked for "your spirit" and a double portion at that...

Today I want to challenge you.. to ASK just like Elijah said to Elisha "Ask"
Ask today that God will give you a double portion of His Spirit, stop worrying about stuff in your life, if you have Him everything else will fall into place.

friENDs to the ..END

Following a great Sunday Morning Service, I keep thinking about this past Sunday Morning's message... FRIENDS....friENDs

As a Christian it is vitally important that we choose our friends wisely. We should watch our company and who we surround our lives with, if we are not careful people can slowly but surly pull us down. We should always want to have a group of friends that encourage us not hinder us when it comes to doing God's will.

I encourage you to read 2 Samuel 13, this past Sunday we were able to hear how Amon "had a friend" and this friend of Amon ultimately led him to a plot of destruction. A good friend will pray with you through situations and support you in your work for the Lord, not discourage you, and pull you down, and lead you astray.

I want to encourage you today to evaluate your friendships...
            -Who are your friends?
-What influences are they having on your life?
            -What examples are they setting?
-Are they pulling you down spiritually or even mentally?

-What kind of friend are you being?
-Encourage your friends... Hold them accountable in serving the Lord
             -Pray together through situations

2 Samuel 13 (NKJV)

13 After this Absalom the son of David had a lovely sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her. Amnon was so distressed over his sister Tamar that he became sick; for she was a virgin. And it was improper for Amnon to do anything to her. But Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonadab the son of Shimeah, David’s brother. Now Jonadab was a very crafty man. And he said to him, “Why are you, the king’s son, becoming thinner day after day? Will you not tell me?”

Amnon said to him, “I love Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.”

So Jonadab said to him, “Lie down on your bed and pretend to be ill.

John 5:1-15 (NKJV)

A Man Healed at the Pool of Bethesda

5 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.

Let's admit it Jesus can do some pretty amazing things... and He can do some pretty amazing things in our lives as well. In this passage we hear of Jesus coming to Jerusalem and finding Himself near a pool that was called Bethesda. And at this pool there is a lot of people who are sick with various conditions and as the scripture tells an angel stirred the water and whoever stepped into the water first was made well...

So, have you ever gotten sick, discouraged, depressed? We all have to admit that there are times to where we get in our "ways" or we get to filling so bad that we don't even want to move off the couch to go get some medicine that could give us even the slightest relief from our symptoms. This makes me think how many times we do get stuck in our ways, when we have a situation that we are facing or something important going on how we know, and believe, that God can do it in our lives we just don't move...

You see, in the story there was a "certain man" that was at the pool and it states that he has had is infirmity thirty-eight years, now that's a long time to be stuck in your situation... Many of us would give up hope, stop thinking about healing, and just live with where we are... I mean 38 years.... The man was just laying there in his condition, and Jesus comes on the scene... Do YOU WANT to be made well? This is what Jesus asks the man, Do you WANT to be made well?... Well at first you would think ABSOLUTELY...NO questions asked.. Let's do this! But the man responds saying well, I have no one to put me in the water and every time I try to make my way there someone jumps in before me...

Now just like someone jumping in-front of this man and "takes his healing" so to speak from the water of the pool, the enemy tries to move into your life and take your blessings even while your sitting right beside it... And there too are some of us.. that have been the way we are for so long, that we don't mind God changing the situation and its outcome, we just don't like God changing us and who we are... Many people like being who they are, but they want God to do something big in there life and leave them the way they are...

Sometimes you have to understand that in some situations... YOU are the one holding back your blessing... Don't be okay with Just being Okay.. Know that God WANTS to bless you and He wants MORE of you... You just have to want more of HIM. If you will just make the effort, and give it all you got.. He will meet you right where you are...

If You Love Me...

John 14:23 (NIV)

23 Jesus replied, Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

In reading these words, Jesus simply states that if you love him you will obey his teachings. Once you read chapter 14 of John from the beginning you can get more of an idea of the context of the passage in this story, but as you read this single passage it gets me to thinking... "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching... Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching". It's like this in school maybe elementary or middle school did you ever receive a note that simply stated "Do you Like Me? Yes or No".

Well question is, Do you Love Him?

In verse 23 it states that Jesus replied, Jesus was answering a questions posed by Judas (not Judas Iscariot) 22 Judas  said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”

Jesus tells us that 18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live". For those of us that believe and choose to serve Him, He dwells with us in spirit. We know that in John 14:1 they are comforted knowing that as He said these words, 1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

We know the way... and to If we love Him we will obey His teaching. I want to encourage you to obey the teachings of our Lord. Know that HE (Jesus) is coming back for His children. And you know the way, Jesus is the only way to Eternal Life...

SO MUCH can be taken from this scripture... But I love the parts to where He says that He will not leave us as orphans that He will come to us.. How amazing is it that we have instant family thorough Jesus... and that IF WE LOVE HIM.. that we should want to keep His teaching... think about it.

Praying for you today. Blessed and know that He will Be Back SOON!
