I've Got GAS!

GOT GAS?

Think about it...
Your Car will not run without Gas...
Worship to the Christian, is like Gas in your Car...

It can even be expensive at times... Somtimes you have to give up somthing to get in to church to worship... But the value of it to your walk with Christ is worth it..

Just like the price of Gas, you still pay it if you want to get where you want to get!

We need you to join us this Sunday!
Let us all gather as we worship together for Palm Sunday!
Dr. Eddie Estep (DS) will be worshiping with us this Sunday! Let's Pack the House for JESUS!
Worship is an Important Part of your relationship with Jesus!

The Perfect Pastor with the Perfect Church...

1 Peter 1:7 (NIV)

These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

James 1:12 (NIV)

12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

The Perfect Pastor, and the perfect church... There not here. We all face trouble from time to time, and we all see trials. It's those that can stand the the trail and push through that will reap the rewards. The church will see hard times from time to time, you will face some bad days here and there, and honestly so will your pastor.

Think about it, how many of you would still be faithful to your church and the leadership on your pastor, it the church faced some trials, some tests from the Lord? How can we grow unless we are challenged? Some will shake your hand and say, "Pastor I will always have your back, I will always be here for you" but at the slightest sight of trouble they are the first to hit the door and leave the church....

If you always learn basic skills, and never challenged you will never grow. But, when you are pushed and you stand the test, and persevere there will be a great reward, and you will show the genuineness of our faith. When we are tested, "tried by fire" what is left over is the pure praise and glory that we can give to HIM.

The Forgotten TEN..

It's interesting when we read the ten commandments, we are in a current day and time "mind set" that these things don't effect us anymore... This mind set, is wrong. The church in the same since look at the commandments and says, well I haven't kills, cheated, stole yep, IM GOOD. But... You could be wrong..... Think about it.

Have you said you hated someone? If so, God's word says you have murdered them in your heart... Have you lusted over someone... then you have already committed the act.... By now many of you are checking the list again. What about church on Sunday, have you ever pushed it aside for one reason or another, just said well I'm not going today? I have a headache.. I have to much to do.. If I work today I can get some overtime, and I have bills to pay.. What happened to "Remembering and keeping the Sabbath" It's interesting that God is the first one to get pushed aside in our lives....

Sunday is a day of Worship, to the point God even says hey! You have SIX OTHER DAYS! We often wonder why things are going the way they are going in our lives, rethink where God is in your life, what is HIS position... You don't go to church over a headache but you go into work with one... (just being real here...) You go to work no feeling well, but you can't go to church when you don't feel well?..

If Christians, are not following the commandments then, in truth its no wonder why the schools, courts, and government offices are removing the Ten Commandants from there grounds....

What's a "god" in your life? "Thou shall have no other gods before me" What about money, your children, your job, social media, your spouse, a girlfriend? (JUST BEING REAL HERE AGAIN...) IF "IT" gets more of you than GOD does... its a "god" in your life.......

We need to take a step back and revisit at these commandments, and the commandment of LOVE. As Christians, we are missing the mark. We are not loving one another, our friends or our enemies... We are not putting GOD first, and keeping his day. We are broken, and in desperate need of coming back to Jesus!

Exodus 20 (KJV)

20 And God spake all these words, saying,

I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

13 Thou shalt not kill.

14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Thou shalt not steal.

16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Submission...

Ephesians 5:22-33 (NKJV)

Marriage—Christ and the Church

22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wivesbe to their own husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body,[a] of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”[b] 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

It's funny that for many Christian men that they have a joke about preaching "submission"... But on a more serious not submission is an important part of our relationship with Jesus. We should all be submissive to Him. As husbands we must love our wives just as Christ Loved the church. I think about this as we are only in the first couple weeks of the year and I have gotten several requests for weddings for the year. Being a busy Pastor of a great church, it is important for me to always remember my wife and the family that God has blessed us both with. God gave me the wife that I have and blessed our houshold as we have walked in ministry doing HIS work.

Being a Pastor is not always the easiest thing, nor is being the wife of a pastor. You often find yourself busy and torn as you share in ministry with many families. But in the midst of a busy, blessed, and growing ministry... We remember that God blessed us with each other. I love my wife just as Christ, loved the church. We are in ministry together. God did not design me to do ministry without her, and we work together in doing the work of our Lord.

As you get close to Valentines Day and think about your love, and remember the blessings that God has poured out to you both. Its a team work effort and God had to be your focus.

One Black Friday...

Luke 23:26-43 (NIV)

The Crucifixion of Jesus

26 As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. 27 A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. 28 Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ 30 Then

“‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall on us!”
and to the hills, “Cover us!”’[a]

31 For if people do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

32 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. 33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[b] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”

There was a Black Friday Long a Go that Starteds with a Long Line of people following to see what was going on... Waiting to see what was going to take place. On this day a man named Jesus carried a Cross to a place where He would be crucified..

With Thanksgiving just passed by we have to remember that as thousands are out shopping today standing in line for hours to save a couple dollars that there was a time on a Black Friday that many stood in a line following to see what would happen with Jesus on this day.

Today, think about Jesus and that day when He took on the sin of the world, and endured the Cross for each of us.. Think about that Sunday morning and the tomb being empty...

Thanksgiving doesn't end on Thursday.. for us it is an everyday remembrance of what Christ did for us on that day!

The Flowers will Fall..

1 Peter 1:24-25 (NIV)

24 For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, 25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.

Time Flies, when you are having fun... We have all heard this statement before and probably all used it at some point. What we probably miss is that it is such a true statement. Over the next couple months, my two boys will both  have birthdays one about to turn seven, and the other about to turn two... WHERE DOES TIME GO?

As we are flowing through fall and vastly approaching winter we are seeing the grass all die back, flowers falling, all the leaves change and fall off trees. These things bring my attention to the words that are spoken in 1 Peter 1 "All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever".

To often we get to caught up in earthly things, that we forget about our relationship with Jesus. There will be a time when the things in this world that we wrap our selves up in will pass away... And we are left with our attention focused on God. We will grow old and wither, and "our" glory will fall. Today, make a new leap. Put your attention on your relationship with Jesus. Focus on the true things that matter... Because the "Word of the Lord, endures forever".

Let Him lead you, guide you, and mold you into who He wants you to be. God wants to commit His works to "faithful" men as the scripture says. God will not give you a position, a ministry, a blessing to make you faithful, obedient. He will bless those who have run the race, proved themselves and make the sacrifice.

It is not always easy to serve the Lord, it is not always easy to focus on Him and not the things that we enjoy, or would "rather" do.. But, God desires for us to make Him a priority and to always put Him first and trust Him for the rest. Remember, the Word of the Lord, Endures Forever...

Today, Make a Commitment to God, that you will realign your Priorities and Focus on Him.

Because, Everything else will one day fade away...

Community Baptism Service

Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

It was an awesome time with our Community Baptism Service this past Sunday Night. We held the service at the Rock (YMCA) Aquatics Center and over a hundred people showed up, and we baptized sixteen people from the age of six to being able to baptize one on her 50th Birthday! What a joy it was to be in the presence of the Lord! Worship was led by Academy Christian School located here in Rock Hill, they did an amazing joy. The school having a very gifted group of young people engaged about serving the Lord.

Now being in the next stage of the journey in there walk with Jesus, it is up to each of us to encourage these 16 individuals and support them in there relationship with Jesus as they draw close to Him every step of the way. We have to remember the 20 verse of this scripture, "teaching them".

Congratulations to all those that were baptized yesterday and may God Bless You all and keep His hand over you in your walk with Him.

Let's Make it a God Day... The Choice is yours....

Acts 5:29 (NIV)

29 Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!

Today a retired pastor friend of mine posted this scripture on his Facebook page as a devotion and it brings light to the world we live in today. We seem to live in a day and age where people serve "man" and listen to people more than to God...

We need to take our thoughts, prayers, needs, and burdens to HIM not "them"... God always has the final say so. I have seen situations that looked like the finial results were everything but engraved in stone, and with the prayers of His Children, God made a way where there was no way... There is no limit to what God can accomplish if you will just give it to God and move over!

We all have a choice to make...

       -Who will you serve?

-Who will you put your trust, your faith, your hope in?

Every time you check Facebook, every time you are riding down the road blaring your country or rap music, and open your eyes in the morning and close your eyes at night all without acknowledging God even as a simple thank you, you make a choice...

Sometimes in the absence of making a choice, you have already made your choice....

"What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"

Matthew 16:26 (KJV)

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Far to often in life, we put things in front of our time with God we are concerned with our earthly possessions and what we can gain here on this earth... I wrote a post entry recently Martha and Mary; and I am often reminded how when Jesus came to the House of Martha, how she was so busy doing, doing, doing while Jesus was there. I can relate at times, what about you? And the in that time Mary was also there but she sat with Jesus, dwelled in HIS presence and sought HIM. Mary put everything aside and put HIM first.

How many times are we willing to do that?

Can the Grass wait? Can the Painting wait? Can your friends wait? What about work..? TV? Facebook? Going to the mall? Sleeping in?

We each have a long list that we can make of things that we let interfere with our time with Jesus...

We push Him to the side and focus on what we fill is important, when all we must learn to do is to put HIM first and Trust Him to take care of us for what we Need in our lives..

We focus on building up our earthly "things" and we get busy, too busy to spend time with Him.

Think about it. When was the last time you spent time with HIM? Don't count Sunday at Church.. That was Worship. I am talking about just YOU and HIM. No distractions, No Cell Phone, No Facebook, No nothing. Just you and Jesus...

Pray this week. Study His Word. And Seek HIS Face. Put HIM First, and then TRUST HIM.

Never, be to busy for Him...

Luke 10:38-42  (KJV)

38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.

40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

We can learn a very valuable lesson from Mary and Martha's encounter with Jesus when He came to the house of Martha. Martha is just like many of us busy, busy, busy... I can't go to church, because I have to do this... I can't make it tonight to service because I have to do that... This isn't new, news we all have heard excuses and honestly at some point we have all used them....

But, the truth lays within the scripture with Jesus' words to Martha.. It is that Martha seems frustrated with Mary. Martha is busting her rump doing things serving, probably cleaning getting things ready things we all probably find our selves doing often instead of going to the House of God...

Martha questioned Jesus, DON'T YOU CARE, I am doing all this alone, while my sister left me to do the work while she is sitting down with you?... It was these next words where we get a tow stomper... Jesus said that Mary was doing it all right. She put her priority in being in HIS presence.

You see, it is in HIS presence that everything will all start to come together. You will build your relationship with HIM, and you will have everything that you will need to serve HIM.

I want you to start this week. Put Him first. Seek HIS face. Make a way to be in the House of the Lord. When you come to worship and you are able to experience being in HIS presence, you will understand why Mary dropped what she was doing just to dwell in HIS presence.

The Walk in your journey...

Psalm 37:23-31 (NKJV)

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand."

We all have a journey, and we should all cherish our journey with the Lord. As the psalmist wrote,"the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.." we have to always allow God to lead us and guide us in His direction in our journey. The psalmist also adds, "though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand."

We have a friend in Jesus who is there for us every step we make in our journey, even when we fall He will pick us back up and uphold us with HIS hands. I can ensure you that in your journey there will be bumps in the road but the rewards are so much better than the bumps if you will stay focused on Him and push through.

I had an opportunity to spend time with Mrs. Sophia Lambert this past weekend. Mrs. Lambert is a life long member of our church born in 1928 and still to this day has a passion for our church and church family. Although I didn't have the opportunity to see Mrs. Lambert as she taught Sunday School or work in the ministry, as I sit with her this past Saturday I was able to enjoy stories of things that she took part in over the years in the ministry. I heard friends and Family members talk about the joys of her service to the Lord through our church and the lives that were changed.

I can only imagine that there were some bumps in the road over the years, even in the latter part of her journey, Mrs. Sophia lost her life long partner Mr. Gene who recently past away, and her memory may slip here and there. But, she still touched my heart as I hear her testimony through her as she sings Amazing Grace, hear all the stories, and spend time with her. I even got to sit on her lap and tell how much her service meant to us, and because of her faithful service to the Lord along with Mr. Gene and others we are able to worship were we are today.

Balancing and Revival

What an awesome first night of Revival! We are looking forward to what God has in store for the rest of the week. If you could have made it out and didn't... Shame on you. God wants to do a work in your life. Usually the main thing standing in the way of God doing a work in your life, is you.

The enemy is a master at putting things in your way to keep you from God, what we have to do is push our selves to making time for HIM. God will move in you life like never before if you will just make HIM a number one priority in your life, in your marriage, in your work. Have you ever noticed how you can get through a whole episode of your favorite TV show, but can't seem to find the energy to get through one chapter of God's word? Admit it, we have all been there... The enemy knows that within God's word is answers, keys, and victory. If the devil can keep you out of that book he can win over situations in your life...

I don't care how you do it... FIND TIME Get in GOD'S Word. Find Time to Pray.

Make this extra commitment to Him and watch what starts to take place, Give it time...But watch. God will make some amazing moves... Trust Him, Believe His Word and apply it to your life.

Romans 13:14 (NIV)

14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.[a]

Keep YOUR eyes on Jesus and look to Him for help, guidance, and your place in life. He will do a work like never before in your life if you just give HIM the time in your life. Spend time with HIM daily. Read and Pray.
